LINTICO MATERIAL GUIDE
A matter of feeling
Weight gives linen its movement—but the right weight is the one that feels right for your life
How linen is measured
GSM stands for grams per square meter. It describes the physical weight of a fabric—not simply its thickness or quality.
Lower GSM fabrics usually feel airier and more fluid. Higher GSM fabrics often offer greater coverage, body and structure. At LINTICO, each weight is selected for the way a garment is intended to move.

A little more clarity
Not necessarily. Higher GSM means more fabric weight and usually more body or coverage. The best weight depends on the season, silhouette and feeling you prefer.
Some light colors and open weaves can be semi-sheer, especially in strong light. Product descriptions should note lining and coverage where relevant.
Lightweight linen under 145 g/m² is designed for maximum airiness. A medium-weight linen can also feel comfortable in summer when you prefer a little more coverage.
Yes. Linen remains naturally breathable, although a denser weave will feel more substantial and allow less immediate airflow than an open lightweight weave.
Fiber quality, yarn, weave, finishing and garment construction all influence softness, drape and texture in addition to the fabric's physical weight.
